PRACTISE WHO YOU ARE

(Keep Training Yourself In Righteousness)

Wednesday, 28 October

TO THE BIBLE: Hebrews 5:14

“But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

The competition was close now, and the pressure to perform was real. So was the quieter test of consistency.

Kemi had been declaring who she was in Christ for weeks successful, prosperous, excellent, living the miraculous life. Yet Wednesday brought a moment where the declaration and the feeling did not line up. A sharp comment from a classmate about the leaked project from earlier in the month tried to pull old frustration to the surface. For a second the easy response was irritation.

She chose differently.

At the study table later, Tobi noticed the deliberate calm in her expression.

“You almost reacted,” he said.

“I almost did,” Kemi admitted. “But I’ve been thinking about how growth actually works. When you were born, no one expected you to run. Your muscles had to develop. Your balance had to strengthen. Walking became natural only after practice. Spiritual growth is the same. Sometimes people wonder, ‘If I’m truly God’s child, why don’t I always get the results I expect?’ The identity is not the problem. The Spirit Himself bears witness that we are children of God. That’s settled. The real question is training.”

She opened her notebook.

“Spiritual maturity requires practice. I’m supposed to be trained in righteousness and exercised in the Word. Christianity is not a passive experience. We are Word practitioners. I practise love when it’s difficult. I practise faith when circumstances challenge me. I practise joy when pressure mounts. I practise my divine authority until it becomes my natural response. James says be doers of the Word and not hearers only. When the Word says I’m victorious, I act like it. When it says I’m blessed, I speak like it. When it says I have dominion, I live like it.”

Tobi nodded slowly. “So today’s training was choosing not to answer in the flesh.”

“Exactly,” Kemi said. “I identified the moment and responded with the Word on purpose instead of my feelings. Temporary stumbles are not the end. I refuse discouragement. I keep practising who I am in Christ until victory, wisdom, and the right responses flow more effortlessly.”

She spoke it quietly but firmly:

“I am a doer of the Word. I practise who I am in Christ. My senses are being exercised to discern and to respond rightly. I walk in righteousness, and it is becoming my natural way of living.”

Later, when another small pressure rose during group work, the response came faster. She chose faith over frustration and kept the atmosphere clean. It was not perfect, but it was progress the kind that comes from repeated use.

On the way home Tobi glanced at her.

“You’re not just declaring anymore. You’re training.”

Kemi nodded. “Because declaring without practice stays thin. I’m practising who I already am. And the more I train, the more natural the victory becomes.”

The competition still required focus. The days still held tests. But the method of growth was clearer than ever.

She was God’s child.

And she was training herself in righteousness every day.
