TAKE YOUR PLACE AS THE “HUIOS”

(Don’t Remain In The Babyhood Stage)

Friday, 25 September

TO THE BIBLE – Romans 8:19

“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”

Friday afternoon carried a different weight.

The specialisation in the Word from the day before had sharpened something in both of them, but it also exposed a quieter question. After the final bell, Jordan and Maya sat on the low wall outside the library—the same place where so many of their earlier conversations had unfolded. The residual social tension with Tyler’s circle still existed in the background, softer now, yet present enough to remind them that the atmosphere around them had not fully shifted.

Jordan broke the silence.

“We’ve grown a lot this month,” he said. “I can see it. The way we handle pressure, the way we speak, the way we filter what gets in. But sometimes I still feel like we’re only managing our own space. Like the real difference is supposed to reach further than just us not reacting anymore.”

Maya nodded. She had felt the same stretch.

“That’s because maturity isn’t only about surviving the pressure better,” she answered. “The Bible says all creation is waiting for the revealing of the sons of God—the mature ones. Not the babes still stuck in cycles of fear or silence. The world is hurting. People are struggling with things that look bigger than them. And the only hope it’s waiting for is the mature sons and daughters who know how to stand, overcome, and bring something better into the middle of it.”

Jordan looked out across the courtyard. A few students from Tyler’s group walked past without comment. The unfinished thread was still there, but it no longer dominated the view.

“So we don’t get to stay at the level of just protecting our own peace,” he said slowly.

“No,” Maya replied. “We take growth seriously. God wants to entrust greater things to those who can handle responsibility. That means we keep moving out of the babyhood stage—on purpose. We keep applying the Word, not only for ourselves, but so we can actually function as the ‘huios’—the mature sons—who bring deliverance, clarity, and hope where it’s needed.”

She paused, then added, “Even as teens. The waiting isn’t only for adults. Creation is waiting for us to grow up in this and take our place.”

Jordan was quiet for a long moment. The ordinary sounds of a Friday dismissal filled the air around them—laughter, footsteps, the usual end-of-week energy. Underneath it, both of them sensed a larger assignment settling into place.

“Okay,” he said at last. “Then we stop treating maturity like an optional upgrade. We grow because something bigger than us is waiting for us to show up fully.”

Maya stood. “Exactly. The world doesn’t need more people who only manage not to sink. It needs the sons who know how to stand and change the atmosphere.”

They walked toward the gates together. The social undercurrent remained unfinished. Other pressures would still come. Yet the focus had shifted again—from merely holding their ground to preparing to occupy a larger place.

Babyhood was no longer an option.

Maturity was the assignment.

And creation was still waiting.
