GOD’S NUMBER-ONE JOB
(Take Soul Winning Very Seriously)
Monday, 19 October
TO THE BIBLE: Proverbs 11:30
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.”
The competition preparation continued, but Monday brought a different kind of urgency.
Kemi had spent the past days strengthening her inner life speaking from the Word, accessing the Father, recognising her vast inheritance. Progress was real. Yet as she walked through the hallway that morning, she noticed something she had been too focused to see clearly: students around her still carried the same heaviness, the same quiet pressure, the same sense of being on their own.
At break Tobi found her standing near the notice board, watching the flow of students.
“You’re not reviewing notes,” he said. “What’s going on?”

“I’ve been growing,” Kemi answered. “Declaring. Dreaming bigger. Taking hold of grace. All of that matters. But God’s number-one job is soul winning. He sent Jesus into the world primarily as a soul winner not a title-holder. Even when Jesus was tired, one conversation with the Samaritan woman was enough to make Him forget His hunger. He said His food was to do the will of the One who sent Him.”
She turned to face him.
“I’ve been treating the Gospel like something I’ll get to later after the competition, after things settle. But we don’t always have the opportunity. Jesus said we must work while it is day. The ministry of reconciliation has been given to us. I’m young. I have energy, influence, and access to my peers. Waiting for the perfect moment is not wisdom. This is the day of salvation.”
Tobi was quiet for a moment. “So what does that look like today?”
“It looks like not walking past people,” Kemi said. “It doesn’t have to be a long sermon. A simple testimony of what He’s done for me. A clear word. A conversation. God can use ordinary moments school friendships, short talks, even small acts of kindness to bring someone to Christ. Soul winning is not an extra activity. It’s the main assignment.”
Later that afternoon she found a natural opening. One of the students who had used her study framework was still struggling with more than academics. In a short, honest exchange, Kemi shared simply what the Word had been doing in her own life how she had stopped treating challenges as hopeless, how she had learned to take hold of what Christ already provided. She didn’t force anything. She simply opened the door.
The student listened. Something shifted in the conversation. A seed was planted.

On the way home Tobi glanced at her.
“You actually did it. You didn’t wait.”
Kemi adjusted her bag. “I can’t keep growing only for myself. The fields are white. The responsibility is serious. And I’m not too young to take it seriously. This is God’s number-one job and He’s made it mine too.”
The competition still stood ahead. The personal growth was still real. But a larger purpose had taken its proper place at the centre.
Soul winning was not a side task.
It was the main work.
And the time to do it was now.

ACT
Before the day ends, look for an opportunity to share the Gospel with someone. It could be a friend, a family member, or even a stranger. It doesn’t have to be a long sermon; just a simple testimony of what He’s done for you.
