"BEYOND YOUR PAYCHEQUE (Look to God, Not Your Job, as Your Source)"
The application for the city youth conversations sat unfinished on Elena’s laptop.
It asked practical questions: availability, transportation, any costs involved, and whether participants could commit to the full series. None of the five had part-time jobs that paid real money. A couple of them received small allowances. The rest relied on their parents for everything. Suddenly the open door felt connected to a quiet, uncomfortable question: How would we even cover what this might require?
At the same time the rumour had found a new shape. A private message between Avery and Elena had been screenshotted, cropped, and shared with a misleading caption that suggested favouritism and secret planning. It was small, but it stung.
During lunch the group sat together, the mood more practical and slightly tense than usual.
“I want to say yes to the city thing,” Jordan said, “but I keep thinking about the details. Money. Rides. Time. It feels like we need a source we don’t have yet.”
Sofia opened the TeeVo and turned it toward them.
BEYOND YOUR PAYCHEQUE (Look to God, Not Your Job, as Your Source)
Key Nuggets from Pastor Chris:
- Most rivers do not create their own water; they carry water from a larger source. Your job, allowance, or current resources are channels—not the source.
- God is your source. He supplies all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
- Stop seeing your job or any human channel as the source of your supply.
- The reason God wants you to work is so that you may have something to give (Ephesians 4:28).
- Giving is God’s established medium for financial prosperity.
- Do whatever is in your hand with excellence and refuse mediocrity; God is the One who promotes and supplies.
Elena read the words twice. She realised how quickly their thinking had shifted toward the channels—allowance, parents, possible part-time work—while the true Source stayed in the background.
“We’ve been treating money and provision like something we have to figure out first before we can obey,” she said. “But the TeeVo says God is the source. The channels can change. He doesn’t.”
They decided to respond to the invitation from a different posture. Instead of first calculating whether they “had enough,” they chose to acknowledge God as their source and then take the next faithful step. They also refused to let the twisted message steal hours of emotional energy. They addressed it briefly and cleanly where necessary, then returned their focus to the assignment in front of them.
That afternoon Elena helped with extra chores at home without being asked. Jordan shared notes with a classmate who was struggling. Sofia set aside a small amount she had been saving and gave it quietly to a need she knew about. None of it was dramatic. All of it was deliberate—an expression of trusting the Source rather than gripping the channels.
By the end of the day the application was submitted. The rumour was still out there, but it no longer dictated their decisions. They were learning to look beyond every temporary supply and fix their eyes on the One who never runs dry.
TO BE CONTINUED...
_Tomorrow in Episode 18 (Tuesday): “A LIFE OF CONTINUOUS VICTORY” – Live in the Life of Continuous Triumph. As the group steps into new visibility and continued pressure, they will be challenged to stop treating life as a series of ups and downs and start living from permanent victory._
TODAY’S TEEVO TRUTH (Key Nuggets by Pastor Chris):
- God is your source—not your job, allowance, or any human channel.
- He supplies all your need according to His riches in glory.
- Work and manage resources with excellence so you can be a giver.
- Refuse to let limited channels create limited thinking.
ACTION STEP: Refuse language of lack today. Instead of saying “I don’t have enough,” declare: “I’m rich; God is my source and He supplies all my need.” Then look for one practical way to give or bless someone else.
SUSPENSE ALERT: The city organisers reply faster than expected with an acceptance—and a small practical requirement that will stretch the group’s trust. At the same time, the cropped-message rumour reaches a teacher, who asks for a clarification meeting.
Find out tomorrow!
Keep living out your TeeVo—look beyond every paycheque and channel. God is your source!
