"PRESS TOWARD THE GOAL (Run Your Race with Purpose)"
Sunday morning brought two messages that pulled in opposite directions.
The first was a quiet rumour already circulating among a few students: that Avery was only using the group for attention, and that Elena was becoming “too controlling.” It was subtle, designed to plant suspicion rather than start an open fight.
The second message was an email forwarded by Mrs. Hale. A youth network in the city was organising a short series of student-led conversations for teens from different schools. Someone had seen the forum clip and wanted Elena’s group to consider taking part. It was an open door beyond their campus—bigger reach, new environment, and higher visibility.
The four friends plus Avery met under the oak tree that afternoon. The rumour sat awkwardly between them. Avery looked hurt. Jordan was frustrated. Sofia stayed quiet longer than usual. For a moment it felt easier to focus on the offence than on the opportunity.
Elena opened the TeeVo.
PRESS TOWARD THE GOAL (Run Your Race with Purpose)
Key Nuggets from Pastor Chris:
- There is a race of life, and everyone is in it whether they realise it or not.
- “Press” means to run swiftly as in a race so as to win the prize (Philippians 3:14).
- You must know both that you have a race and how to run it. Time is short, and opposition will try to frustrate you.
- The real prize is fulfilling God’s purpose and calling for your life—not just temporary success or recognition.
- Commit your whole being to what God has placed in you. Even small steps of obedience and excellence are part of the race.
- Run in such a way that at the end you can say, like Paul, “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
The words cut through the distraction. The rumour was real, but it was not the race. The city invitation was significant, but it was still only one stretch of the track. The deeper question was whether they would keep running with purpose or get pulled into side battles.
Elena spoke first. “If we start chasing every rumour or protecting our image, we will slow down. The TeeVo says we have to press—run with clear direction toward the actual goal.”
They took time to identify what the real race looked like for them right now: staying rooted in the Word, walking in love, speaking truth with boldness, and remaining available for whatever doors God opened—without needing to control the outcome or defend themselves at every turn.
Avery exhaled. “I don’t want to spend my energy proving I’m not using anyone. I just want to keep running the right race.”
One by one they recommitted—not to popularity, not to winning arguments, but to finishing well whatever God had placed in front of them. They decided to respond to the city invitation with openness and to refuse to feed the rumour with reaction.
That evening Elena wrote in her journal:
The race is not against the people who misunderstand us. The race is toward the purpose God has already set. I will not slow down to fight every distraction. I will press.
The path ahead still held both opportunity and opposition. But the group was learning to run with clearer eyes—swiftly, purposefully, and with the finish in view.
TO BE CONTINUED...

TODAY’S TEEVO TRUTH (Key Nuggets by Pastor Chris):

- The real prize is fulfilling God’s calling and purpose for your life.
- Refuse to be distracted or slowed by opposition and side issues.
- Commit fully to the race set before you; even small faithful steps matter.

SUSPENSE ALERT: The city invitation requires a quick response and a short application. At the same time, the rumour finds a new angle—this time involving a misinterpreted private message. Someone in the group will have to decide whether to address it directly or keep pressing forward without delay.
