Episode 11
COMMIT TO THE UPWARD AND FORWARD LIFE
(Refuse To Settle For Anything Less Than God’s Best)
Sunday, 11 October
TO THE BIBLE: Genesis 26:12-13
“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous."
The competition registration was done, but Sunday afternoon brought a quieter temptation.
Kemi sat at the dining table reviewing the preliminary requirements. They were heavier than she expected. Extra reading. Tighter deadlines. A standard that would demand more than the average student was willing to give. For a moment the old instinct rose the thought of scaling the goal down, choosing something safer, something that fit more comfortably into her current capacity.
Tobi noticed the shift in her expression as he walked past.

“You’re second-guessing it,” he said.
“I’m calculating the cost,” Kemi admitted. “Part of me wants to keep things manageable. Stay in the range that already feels successful. Not stretch into something that could expose how much further I still have to go.”
She closed the folder.
“But that’s settling. Isaac didn’t settle. There was famine. Everyone else left for Egypt looking for the easier place. God told him to stay and sow right there in the dry land. He obeyed, and the Bible says he began to prosper and continued prospering until he became very prosperous. Continual advancement. Not one good season and then comfort.”
Tobi leaned against the doorway. “So you’re saying the hard option is the right one?”
“I’m saying the directed option is the right one,” Kemi answered. “Where the Spirit leads, I go. What He instructs, I do. Famine, pressure, limited time, or a competitive field can’t cancel God’s plan for my progress. My journey is supposed to be upward and forward. I refuse to shrink my dreams to fit my current situation. God’s best is the only standard I’m accepting.”
She opened her notebook and wrote a clear next step under the competition date specific hours she would give to preparation that week, no negotiation. Then she spoke it out:
“I commit to the upward and forward life. I refuse to settle for less than God’s best. I am making progress, and my success is appearing.”

Later, as the evening settled, the weight of the decision felt different not lighter, but settled. The residual noise from earlier weeks no longer competed for space. A larger direction had taken its place.
Kemi was no longer only overcoming the last challenge.
She was refusing every version of “enough for now.”
Her story was not one of managing limits.
It was one of becoming very great.
