The AI live-action short drama "Armed Into Song" has drawn 12 billion cumulative views across all platforms as of November 6, according to 第一财经. The series launched on the Hongguo platform on August 21 and has released roughly 1,000 episodes across ten seasons in a little over two months.

In an exclusive interview with 第一财经 published November 7, chief planner Zhang Hansheng said no member of the team has formal training in the field, and he described the group as a makeshift outfit. He said a drama must move its creators before it can move an audience, and argued that a strong series should stir the full range of viewers' feelings rather than only deliver thrills, comparing the mix of highs and lows to ordinary life.

Other outlets have reported on the production's reception. 新浪财经 reported the producer said the show never used paid traffic promotion and that the team plans to cut output following its success. 驱动之家 reported that a 54-year-old man turned to short dramas after a series of failed ventures, putting in 1 million yuan and seeing a return in the tens of millions. 金融界 reported the core team numbers six people, including a stay-at-home mother and a former truck driver, and that members worry about being mythologized now that the show is popular.

Separately, at the 2026 Global Digital Business Conference on October 30, Jia Mingyu, national first-place winner in the embodied intelligence track of the first Youth AI Competition, said humans will remain the ones who define the next era, because only people can bear responsibility, according to 第一财经.

Watch for whether the team follows through on its stated plan to scale back production.
