Crude oil futures ended Tuesday's session slightly weaker on both sides of the Atlantic, 新华网客户端 reports.
West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery, traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange, shed 37 cents to settle at $96.09 a barrel, a decline of 0.38%, according to the outlet.
The January contract for London's Brent benchmark fell further, losing $1.17 to close at $103.60 a barrel — a drop of 1.12%.
The two benchmarks therefore moved in the same direction but at noticeably different magnitudes, with the London grade posting the steeper percentage loss on the day.
Coverage aggregated alongside the 新华网客户端 report pointed to a softer tone across energy markets. 华尔街见闻 described a sharp pullback in global energy prices alongside a strong rebound in gold, and linked the move to signs that Washington and Tehran were showing willingness to talk. 中华网 reported that WTI had once again fallen below the $100 mark amid expectations of increased supply.
Those accounts come from separate outlets and are not part of the settlement figures carried by 新华网客户端, which reported only the closing prices and their daily changes.
Trading attention now turns to whether the next session confirms the downward drift or reverses it, and to any further signals on supply and on the US-Iran contacts those outlets referenced.
