Bethesda has revealed the name of its long-awaited role-playing game: The Elder Scrolls 6 is now officially titled The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel. The announcement, reported by Forbes and other outlets on Tuesday, also confirmed the game's setting in Hammerfell, according to TechPowerUp.

The title and logo were unveiled as part of Bethesda's 40th anniversary celebrations, IGN reported. The reveal ends years of public uncertainty over what the project would be called, though it answers only part of the question players have been asking since the game was first teased.

Forbes noted that the announcement disclosed the location but did not include a release year. That leaves the launch window unconfirmed, even as the game's identity has become clearer.

The news drew wide coverage, with The Verge reporting simply that the sixth main entry in the series now has a name, and Gizmodo framing the reveal as the franchise finally receiving a title after a decade of waiting. The consistent thread across the reports is that Bethesda has settled the naming question while keeping its schedule private.

Hammerfell, the confirmed setting, is a region familiar to longtime series players, and the choice aligns the new game with a part of the world that has previously been explored mainly at the edges of earlier titles.

What to watch next: whether Bethesda follows the name reveal with a release window, gameplay footage, or a launch date.
