Bangladeshi composer and music director Ibrar Tipu is in critical condition after a long battle with cancer, according to a social media post by lyricist Kabir Bakul cited by karatoa.com.bd.
Tipu has been receiving treatment in the United States for roughly two years, the report says. He recently underwent brain surgery and has now returned to his home in the US after an extended hospital stay.
Kabir Bakul wrote that Tipu is "fighting at the threshold of life and death," and described him as "my brother, our everyone's beloved music director."

Family brought him home from hospital, lyricist says
Citing Tipu's wife, singer Bindu Kona, Kabir Bakul said the family brought the composer home from the hospital against medical advice, largely by force, because they believed he was not receiving proper care there.
"His wife Bindu Kona said they brought Tipu home almost by force, because the family felt he was not getting the right treatment there," Kabir Bakul wrote, according to the report.
The post also described how the two men reconnected. Kabir Bakul said his wife, Dinat Jahan Munni, arranged a video call so he could speak with Tipu. He said the last time he had seen Tipu in person was during Eid al-Fitr this year.
He recalled that Tipu had visited his home in New York despite being unwell. After speaking with him again after a long gap, Kabir Bakul wrote that the same familiar tenderness was still visible in Tipu's eyes and face.
