Annemarie Carpendale has spoken publicly about her daily life in Munich after separating from Wayne Carpendale, saying she is "overjoyed" that the two of them still deal with each other so well, according to t-online – München.

The 48-year-old television presenter made the comments in an interview with Bunte, the outlet reported. She and Wayne Carpendale ended their marriage after 19 years together, a split they made public in September, though the pair had already stopped being a couple at the start of 2026.

In the interview, Annemarie Carpendale described how she and her ex-husband now interact. She said the two remain very closely connected and that she wants that bond to last permanently, t-online – München reported.

Why it matters

The Carpendales are among the better-known couples in German television, so the end of a relationship that ran for nearly two decades drew wide attention when it was confirmed. How they handle the split — and how openly Annemarie Carpendale discusses it — has become a story in its own right.

Her remarks also touch on a practical question many separating parents face: whether former partners can keep living and raising a child together after a marriage ends. The couple has said they intend to do exactly that.

Going public brought its own pressure

Annemarie Carpendale told Bunte that the public announcement of the separation was not without consequences. She said the two had known about the split beforehand, but that making it known created stress because far more people were now aware of it, according to t-online – München.

Even so, she said she is "overjoyed" that relations with Wayne have stayed positive since the separation. She added that there is no reason for either of them to behave badly toward the other.

The pair, who live in Munich, did not part in anger. Instead, t-online – München reported, they have tried to keep functioning as a family. Shortly after the marriage ended, both said they wanted to go on living under the same roof with their eight-year-old son, Mads.

A long relationship, from Mallorca to Ibiza

Annemarie and Wayne Carpendale met in 2007 on Mallorca and married in 2013 on Ibiza. After 19 years together, the relationship came to an end. The couple confirmed the separation publicly in September, although it had begun earlier in the year.

Wayne Carpendale, the son of Schlager singer Howard Carpendale, has reportedly moved on. He was photographed on holiday with another woman, who is said to be an acquaintance from the former couple's circle of friends, according to t-online – München.

Annemarie Carpendale has denied speculation that she is in a new relationship. She addressed the rumors through her management, saying she does not plan to start dating again until later, t-online – München reported.

She is a presenter for the ProSieben network and appears on the magazine program taff. Years before her relationship with Wayne, she was linked to comedian Oliver Pocher; the two were a couple from 2002 to 2004. Pocher has said the relationship ended after she flirted with another man.

What to watch

Annemarie Carpendale has not set a date for returning to the dating scene, and the couple's stated plan to keep sharing a home with their son is the arrangement to watch as both move forward.
