The African Union Office of the Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security launched its Strategic Plan for 2026–2028, the African Union's Peace and Security Department reported on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The European Union took part in the launch, according to the EU's diplomatic service, the EEAS. The office is led by the Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security, whose work sits within the AU's peace and security architecture.
At the event, the AU Commission's Deputy Chairperson, H.E. Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi, delivered a keynote statement, the African Union reported. In separate remarks, Haddadi called for women to be placed at the heart of the Union's priorities, according to the Algerian outlet aps.dz.
Coverage of the launch also included remarks by H.E. Amb. Amma A. Twum-Amoah, the AU Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, published by the African Union.
