Cot cameras are to be installed in baby wards across the UK, irishtimes.com reports, after an inquiry into the case of nurse Lucy Letby delivered damning findings.

The health secretary announced the move, according to Sky News. The cameras will be fitted in neonatal units, the same setting where Letby worked.

The inquiry concluded that some of Letby's murders could have been prevented, RTE.ie reports. It also found what The Journal described as a "complete failure" to protect babies from the nurse.

Ministers have promised sweeping changes to the NHS in response to the report, The Guardian reports, calling the findings "devastating."

The full article was not available, so further details of the inquiry's recommendations and the camera programme have not been confirmed.

What to watch next: when the cot cameras will be installed and what other NHS reforms ministers propose.
